DECEMBER 2008
The year is almost at an end and what an amazing year it has been! Some of the higlights have included:
* The centre being nominated for a Fisher Price - Child Care Centre of the Year Award
* Installing our new water tanks
* The opening of our new woodwork shed
* The birth of baby chickens
* The building of a slide hill!
* The construction of our art studio
* The centre being nominated for a Telstra/Channel 10 Environment award and subsequently being featured on the channel ten news!
* An amazing article about our environmental programs being featured in the Newcastle Herald
* Excursions to Blackbutt, Mt Sugarloaf, the Art Gallery, Booragul Primary School, Speers Pt Park, Kinder Gym and Fighter world
* Our regular bushwalks
* Tash and Nicole sharing stories of our bushwalks at an Early Childhood Conference in Perth
* A fun, successful trivia night
The list could go on and on! There is so much more that we hope to achieve in 2009...stay tuned for our centre goals!
Speaking of 2009, it is almost upon us and we will be making some big changes. Rather than having the children in two seperate rooms, divided by age. The children will have a choice to play in a quiet room, an active room or outdoors for the majority of the day. We have been trialling this already and the positive changes in the children's behaviour and levels of engagement is amazing! We cant wait to see how it goes next year.
Our end of year family picnic is on Friday 12th December at the Sculpture Park at Awaba House/Art Gallery (Booragul) and we look forward to seeing lots of families there.
Thanks again to all of our wonderful children and families who have shared the year with us. We look forward to seeing many of you again next year and for those going off to big school - be sure to come back and visit!
